Welcome to the ESJMDB (English-Subtitled Japanese-Movie Database) aka "Subtitled Japan". This site is devoted to bringing a comprehensive and ever-growing list of Japanese subtitled movies to movie buffs.

Interest in Japan has been growing since the 80s when many fans who now enjoy Japanese movies on a regular basis, caught their first glimpses of Japanese TV hero shows (sentai), and anime programs (such as Robotech and Manzinger Z).

Currently the number of released subtitled movies is increasing each year, however, there are still many more gems that have yet to see recognition. The mission of the ESJMDB is to bring all the movies possible to the forefront, for better or worse.

While you enjoy your look around, we ask that you keep one thing in mind, this is an on-going project done. Things might be slow at times, as not all Japanese movies get subtitled. Moreover, this is a project done for fun. Right now, the site is fairly small; just how big it will get, we have no idea. If you know of a movie that we have missed, let us know. Fill out the form and lend us a hand.
